There was pandemonium in the Akwa Ibom state High court on Thursday, when Uduak Frank Akpan, the mur=derer of a job seeker,Iniubong Umoren, tried escaping from court.

The convict shortly after he was sentenced to death by hanging and life imprisonment on a two count charge bordering on ra-pe and mu-rder, tried escaping from officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service, save for the intervention of armed security operatives.

Justice Bassey Nkanang had discharged and acquitted Akpan's father and sister; Frank Akpan and Anwan Bassey,who were also standing trial for accessory after facts to murder.

Umoren, a graduate of Philosophy who was waiting for her NYSC call up, had met her untimely death in April 2021, after she went in search of a job.
