EFCC Warns Against Planned Protest, Cites Threats to Security
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a stern warning regarding an alleged plan by a shadowy group to organize a protest against the commission's operations.
Allegations and Concerns
According to EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, the group has been actively recruiting young Nigerians, including students, through social media platforms, under the guise of resisting the commission's activities, particularly in cybercrime enforcement.

The statement expressed alarm over indications that corrupt individuals currently under EFCC investigation or prosecution may exploit the protest to orchestrate national unrest, potentially threatening Nigeria's peace and security.
Commission's Response and Measures
The EFCC emphasized its commitment to maintaining law and order, especially around its office locations nationwide. Working in collaboration with other security agencies, the commission stated that it is prepared to address any threats to national peace and security effectively.

The statement urged parents, guardians, and heads of tertiary institutions to monitor and prevent the recruitment of youths into activities that could destabilize the country.
