What Doctor Told Peter Obi That Got Him Scared

The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has shocked many of his supporters after revealing that his personal physician instructed him to suspend all public engagements for the weekend to focus on his health.

Obi, who has been on a series of engagements across the country, disclosed the development on his verified X handle on Saturday in a post titled "Supporting Healthcare, Building Hope.ÔÇØ

According to him, he had attended a tourism event in Enugu before proceeding to Good Hope Specialist Hospital, Isulo, Orumba South LGA of Anambra State, where he made a 10 million donation to support the Aguata Diocese of the Church of Nigeria in acquiring and revitalising the hospital.

Ven. Dr. Kamtochukwu Obi, who chairs the Aguata Diocesan Hospital Board, personally conducted him around the hospital facility, sharing the ambitious plans of the Diocese to transform it into a comprehensive health complex with a School of Nursing, Midwifery, and Health Technology. Obi praised the vision, describing healthcare as "one of the most meaningful investments a society can make.ÔÇØ

However, despite his busy itinerary - which also saw him honour an invitation in Owerri to attend a dinner in honour of former Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai - Obi admitted he had been unwell since Enugu.

"Earlier in Enugu, I was not feeling well. I visited the hospital where the doctor gave me some medication and advised me to take a day or two days rest. In obedience to the doctor's advice, I will not be able to meet up with all my scheduled engagements within and outside the country this weekend,ÔÇØ Obi revealed.

The disclosure has sparked concerns among his supporters who see him as one of the most resilient political figures in Nigeria today. Many believe his decision to publicly announce his health status reflects his commitment to transparency and accountability in leadership.
