According to the Senator who is also an aspirant in the Abia 2023 governorship race under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the pensioners are not being owed because the state has no money but because relevant authorities pocket the funds.
Abaribe stated this on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 during his governorship consultation trip to Bende Local Government Area.
Addressing PDP stakeholders and delegates in Bende, Abaribe noted that he supports zoning, however, it must be based on capability and integrity.
"I support zoning but my problem is that the zoning I want is zoning to capability, capacity, integrity and people who will do something for you."
