Kalu who is also the Abia State Coordinator of the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council while speaking during a meeting of the state Presidential Campaign Council at his Country Home, Okagwe Ohafia, in Ohafia LGA of Abia state, described Otti as a beautiful brand, easy to sell. He added that Otti possess rare leadership qualities missing in other candidates contesting the number one position in the state with him.

A statement released by Ferdinand Ekeoma, the Spokesperson of the Alex Otti Campaign Council, quoted Kalu as stating that Abia people have been suffering "Double Jeopardy" because neither the APC led federal government nor Abia state government has performed well, leaving the people to suffer untold hardships arising from poor governance.

Kalu also called on Abians to support Mr Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party come February 25, 2023.
