Hadejia, reportedly one of the sponsors of the #EndBadGovernance protests, was arrested on Monday, August 5th, and charged with treason and subversion against the state. His arrest has raised serious alarms, especially after photos and videos surfaced linking him to several prominent officials in Nigeria.

The allegations against Hadejia extend beyond his involvement in protests, with sources claiming that he has been engaged in transnational crimes, including gun-running and smuggling gold stolen from the Central Bank of Libya. During his interrogation by the Nigeria Police Force, Hadejia was rumored to have mentioned names of top officials, though sources clarified that he did not implicate the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle. Despite Matawalle's public denial of any involvement, there are claims that some politicians are working behind the scenes to link Hadejia to the minister for ulterior motives.

The arrest has been met with varied reactions. Ethnic and regional youth groups, including the Arewa Youths Consultative Forum (AYCF) and Yoruba Youth Council (YYC), lauded Hadejia's apprehension. They praised the efforts of security forces, led by the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and Defence Ministers Abubakar Badaru and Bello Matawalle, in coordinating the arrest. The groups emphasized the need for further empowering security agencies to confront national security challenges.
