Why Buhari Granted Dariye, Nyame Presidential Pardon - Gov. Wike Reveals | DETAILS
Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike has opined that the presidential pardon granted to former governors; Joshua Dariye (Plateau state), and Jolly Nyame (Taraba state) was politically motivated.

According to Wike, President Muhammadu Buhari granted the duo who were convicted of money laundering, pardon because he wants them to work for him during the 2023 general elections.

All Facts Newspaper had reported that president Buhari during a Council of State Meeting on Thursday, April, 14, 2022, approved that Dariye, Nyame and 157 others, who have not been made public, be pardoned.

Joingin others to react to the pardon, Wike on Saturday, described the pardon as a ridicule to the judiciary and a waste of resources on prosecution.

AFNEWS had reported that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), spent 11 years and millions on the investigations and prosecution of Dariye and Nyame. READ HERE

Wike while visiting delegates of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday, April 16, ahead of the party's presidential primaries, said;
"I want to tell you that this government is very deceptive and they have deceived us enough.

"You have big big people, you jail them after all the court proceedings and waste of money, then you ridicule the judiciary by granting them pardonÔÇØ.

"How will the international community look at us with these type of things we do. Look at the amount spent in the prosecutions and you wake up one morning and messed it up all because of politics.ÔÇØ

"He obviously wants them to help him during the elections, he wants Dariye to help with Plateau while Nyame will work for Taraba.ÔÇØ

"If it is not for election purpose, why did he not grant pardon to the likes of James Ibori and Atuche? Wike queried.
