Tambuwal, a known political strategist and influential figure in national politics, has in recent months been linked to high-level meetings with opposition leaders, including those within the ADC bloc. While there is no official confirmation that his arrest is connected to these political alignments, the timing has sparked debate on whether it is a coincidence or a deliberate move to intimidate perceived opponents of the current administration.

Political watchers argue that EFCC's swift move against Tambuwal could be seen as part of a broader crackdown ahead of key political realignments, while others insist the agency must be allowed to carry out its work without interference.
