Mr Nwaeze Francis Jele, who is the owner of Upper GraceLand
Hotel in Umuahia has revealed to Press Men why he petitioned and arrested Mr. Don
Norman Obinna recently in Umuahia.

The hotel owner who claimed Don Norman gave him a dud cheque
in 2017, explained the rigorous he went through trying to solve the matter
amicably before he was left with no choice but to act in a bid to recover his
money.

Based on his brief, Mr. Obinna Don Norman stayed in his hotel for 104 days at the rate of 4000 naira per day, within these 104 days, he accrued a total bill of N730,000 which includes cost for food and drinks of which he gave him discount of N80,000 arriving at N650,000. 00.

"On June 2nd 2017, Don Norman came to my hotel and
approached me that he wants to stay in my hotel for a very long time and that
he is going to be paying monthly as a salary earner".

After the first month, he did not pay, I requested for my
money and he assured me that he has not being paid and that once he receives
salary, he will pay off everything.

This went on till it got to 104 days and he still assured me
that no matter the amount he is equal to the task. At the end, he left for
Lagos, gave me a cheque and promised to pay once he gets to Lagos.

Since then he has not, at a time I could not even reach him
again for months even though people were informing me that he comes to Umuahia
frequently.

After a while, I started contacting some of his friends I know
and reported the issue to them, but no result came out.

I contacted his lawyer, still no result. I even visited him in
the Prison when he was detained there and I raised the issue, he promised to see
me immediately he is released to address it.

But immediately he was released I didn't hear from him
again.

I had no choice but to report the matter to Nigeria Police, petitioned
him before the cheque expires with me.

Norman, he denied it.

Mr. Nwaeze also denied collecting any part payment from Don
Norman Obinna, he proved this by showing Press men his bank details for the
past 2 years with no trace of payment.
