Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola has dismissed reports of friendship with his colleague, Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool coach.

Alluding to the modern scuffle between both northwest England teams- the ''Northwest rivalry'', the gaffer insisted he has no close alliance with Klopp.

The 51 -year-old, however stated he undebatably has a lot of admiration for his fellow coach, claiming the latter made him a better manager.

Speaking in a post-match interview after Etihad stadium's pitched battle, the sportsman expressed optimism his side would edge out the Reds in the FA Cup semi-final billed for next weekend.

"I don't know if Jurgen respects me but Jurgen has to know I respect him a lot. He has made me a better manager.
His team is always there, they are always aggressive.
We are not friends, we never see each other, I have his number but I don't call him.
I have respect for him, but he knows next Saturday [in the FA Cup semi-final] I am going to try and beat him.''
