Why Relegated Burnley Appointed Former Manchester City Captain, Kompany As Head Coach

Almost two months after former manager, Sean Dyche was shown the exit door, English Championship club, Burnley has assigned the managerial duty to former Manchester City captain and icon, Vincent Kompany.

The Belgium international, who is now retired takes over the rein of affairs in the newly-relegated Burnley after a spell at Belgian side, Anderlecht.

The 36-year-old who was appointed on Tuesday, June 14th takes over from caretaker Mike Jackson.

Jackson replaced long-time manager Sean Dyche is an attempt to save the club from looming relegation.

The Turf Moor Stadium management hopes the advent of the former defender will change the fortunes of the club.

Kompany spent 11 years at City, where he won 10 major trophies, including four Premier League titles.

His return to Anderlecht, the club where he kick started his career as a player-manager in 2019 was however marred by a disastrous start to the season.
