The Abia State Government has launched a stinging political rebuttal to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, declaring that his loud 2027 boast that "Abia Will Be APCÔÇØ is not only detached from political reality but may also seal his defeat in the next senatorial election.
In a statement that has triggered intense political debate across Abia North, the government described Senator Kalu's comments as self-serving grandstanding, warning that his repeated attempt to drag Governor Alex Otti into APC politics exposes deep political insecurity rather than strength.

According to the government, Governor Otti has never sought Senator Kalu's support, neither for re-election nor to undermine the APC, describing Kalu's constant emphasis on "not supporting OttiÔÇØ as tiring, unnecessary, and increasingly laughable.
The statement warned that if Senator Kalu's remarks were intended as subtle political threats, then he had gravely miscalculated, stressing that Governor Otti is not a politician who bends under pressure.

Rather than weaken the governor, the government insists that such rhetoric hardens public resolve and further consolidates Otti's standing among Abians, who now see him as their most trusted political institution.

In what analysts describe as the most damaging section of the response, the Abia Government openly challenged Senator Kalu to publish his polling unit and ward results from the 2023 Presidential and Governorship elections.
According to INEC records, the APC lost woefully in the very polling units and wards of APC candidates in Bende LGA, Senator Kalu's home base, during elections conducted on the same day he claims to have "worked with his heartÔÇØ for the party and President Bola Tinubu.

The statement further argued that if Abians overwhelmingly trusted Alex Otti in 2023 based only on promises and character, then rejecting Otti-backed candidates in 2027-after visible transformation in less than three years-would be politically illogical.
According to the government, Abians now regard Alex Otti himself as the political party, and his re-election project as divinely aligned and people-driven, a reality that dramatically narrows Senator Kalu's re-election pathway.

Adding another layer of controversy, the government confirmed that Senator Kalu has drafted his younger brother into the 2027 governorship race despite the fact that the same candidate placed last in the 2023 election under the APP.
Meanwhile, four formidable aspirants have already indicated interest in the Abia North Senatorial seat under the Labour Party, with assurances that Governor Otti will fully back whoever emerges, setting the stage for what insiders describe as Kalu's toughest political battle yet.
