A major judicial shockwave hit Nigeria's political landscape on Monday as the Federal High Court in Abuja convicted the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, on all seven terrorism-related charges brought against him by the Federal Government through the Department of State Services (DSS).
Delivering the judgment, Justice James Omotosho ruled that the prosecution provided "credible, overwhelming and uncontroverted evidenceÔÇØ proving that Kanu's activities amounted to terrorism under Nigerian law.

Justice Omotosho stated that Kanu's actions portrayed him not as a defender of the Igbo people but as someone whose rhetoric worsened insecurity and encouraged attacks on government institutions.
The judge also faulted Kanu for choosing not to present any defence, insisting that the court had no option but to rely solely on the case presented by the prosecution.
"Since the defendant rested his case on the prosecution and did not bring any witness or evidence, the court is compelled to accept the prosecution's case as proved,ÔÇØ the judge ruled.
