The Kano State Police Commissioner, Usaini Gumel, has announced that the police will not evict the deposed Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, from his Nasarawa Palace. This decision comes in light of the ongoing legal tussle surrounding the eviction order.

Commissioner Gumel explained that the Kano State government had filed an eviction order before the state High Court. On Thursday night, the state government instructed the Police Command to evict Bayero from the palace to facilitate renovations. However, Gumel emphasized that complying with the eviction order would amount to preempting the court's decision. Addressing the issue on Friday in Kano, he stated, "The police will not evict the deposed Emir because the same government has filed a case at the State High Court on the eviction order, which would come up on Monday, 24th June 2024. The government is jumping the gun because the same government has filed a case on the eviction order, which is coming up on the 24th of June, 2024. So, if we carry out the order, it is like we are preempting the court because we don't know what will happen at the court.ÔÇØ
