In line with his campaign promise of attacking infrastructural decay in Abia State, the executive governor of the state,
Dr Alex Otti, OFR, has commissioned three roads in Aba, the commercial city of the state.

The governor while commissioning the roads namely; Shalom road, Emelogu road and Cemetery road, assured that work will soon commence in full force on the long abandoned Port Harcourt -Aba road as the state government has gotten a strong signal from the federal government.

Otti restated his commitment to boost the economy of the state by constructing accessible and durable roads, ICT hubs, recreational facilities, among others.

"Roads are great economic enablers .... the world needs to know that Aba is back as a great hub of commerce. We will build the best roads, hotels, hospitals, markets, and turn Aba into the best ecosystem.

"Aba will never be the same again" governor Otti pledged.

He charged residents to help his administration in its vision of a new and clean Aba by disposing refuse properly.

Governor Otti also warned those extorting traders and transporters to desist from such, warning that he will deal decisively with anyone caught in such act.

Speaking earlier to ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER, the state commissioner for works, Hon. Donatus Otumchere stated that the reconstruction of the 0.55KM Shalom road, off Umu-Imo road, Abayi, Aba, cost about N350million with drainages and street lights.

He noted that the road re-awarded by governor Alex Otti to Ferotex construction Co LTD has a strong durability strength with its high pavement characteristics, sub base, sharp base, stone base and binder specifications would also allow heavy duty vehicles ply the road without damaging it.

Speaking also, the constructor, Engineer Afolayan Shegun assured that all specifications approved for the project were adhered to.

On his own part, the Labour Party Abia state chairman, Mr Ceekay Igara, noted that the once impassable Shalom road have been reconstructed and commissioned by the governor under 100 days in office among other roads forming the first set of roads the governor has constructed and commissioned.

He stated that though Otti's administration inherited a colossal failure, it will strive to rejig all sectors.
