Former Super Eagles striker and coach Samson Siasia, has criticized coach Eguavoen's squad list for the brewing World Cup playoffs.

Augustine Eguavoen-led Super Eagles squad will face sports rivals, Black Stars of Ghana in a pitched battle for a slot in the highly anticipated Qatar 2022 World Cup tournament on the 25th of March at Ghana's Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

Last week, interim coach Austine Eguavoen released the names of those invited for the two-legged games and placed seven others on standby.

Leciester City's Ademola Lookman and Danish SuperLiga Akinkunmi Amoo got a maiden call while long term injury absentee Oghenekaro Etebo and Ogenyi Onazi, who has not played for the men's team in almost over two years made the cut.

Reacting, 54-year-old Siasia called out the former Eyimba FC coach, Eguavoen, harping on the need to play sportsmen who understand themselves. Railing against the rash inclusion of new players, the Lagos-born sportsman insisted the 25-man squad list was not the right one.

"You need to play people that understand themselves. If you bring new ones, it becomes difficult for them to understand themselves and play the partner you want to play.
For me, it's not the right decision to bring new players, you are better off with the ones you know already that have been playing together and understand themselves because you have three days to practice before you go to Ghana. So, for me, this is not the right list''.
