Ohanaeze, Ndigbos' most powerful socio-cultural party, has condemned President Muhammadu Buhari's appointment of Usman Alkali Baba as Acting Inspector-General of Police.

President Buhari approved Usman Alkali Baba's appointment as Acting Inspector-General of Police yesterday, according to Garba Shehu, the president's official spokesperson.

According to a credible source, the group believed President Buhari would try to de-escalate tensions in the country by naming someone from the South-East as the Acting Inspector-General of Police.
This was stated in a statement by Chief Alex Ogbonnia, the National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze, who stated that President Buhari's continued discrimination on the South-East is the source of agitation and insecurity in the country.

The group vowed to send a stronger statement regarding this appointment soon.
