2020 Abia LGA Election: How ABSIEC Allegedly Spent N3.6B Without Due Process

Information reaching AF NEWS has it that N3.6B was allegedly used by Abia State Independent Electoral Commission [ABSIEC] for the last Local Government Elections which held on 19th December 2020 in violation of laws as regards procurement and other matters.

According to an anonymous source, the commission is yet to account for the 3.6 billion naira released for the conduct of election in the 17 Local Government Area's of the state and also monies paid by candidates of different parties that participated in the election which also ran into millions of naira.

Remember, that candidates of different parties which includes Chairmanship candidates and Councilorship candidates were mandated to pay N480,000 and N100,000 respectively.

It was alleged that Professor Mkpa Agu Mkpa's led ABSIEC, carried out procurement of 2020 LGA election materials without following due process making accountability shady.

Information getting to AF NEWS reveals that Abia State House of Assembly will sit on Monday to investigate the matter.
Attempts to speak to the Chairman of ABSIEC, Prof. Mkpa Agu Mkpa failed as calls and text message were not responded.

UPDATE: Prof Mkpa Agu Mkpa just responded via text message, saying, "Our information is WRONG".
