2023: How PDP Ignorantly Caused Its Internal Crisis- Wike Reveals

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State on Friday said that the Peoples Democratic Party caused the division in its party Ignorantly by throwing its presidential ticket open.

Answering questions that bordered on the internal crisis in the party from selected journalists, Wike blamed the wriggling on the PDP's failuire to Zone the party's presidential ticket to a particular region.

"Those who thought they are too powerful, highly connected, and that they own the party said there should be no zoning of the presidential ticket - 'leave it open and let the best candidate emerge' - because they think they have the numbers.
"We jettisoned our constitution not knowing that we are laying the foundation, the seed of discord in the future,ÔÇØ he said.

This disagreement was a result of the failure of the party's leadership to yield to the demand that its presidential ticket is zoned to the southern region of the country.
However, since the emergence of the Peoples Democratic Party's presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar who's from the North extraction of the country, Wike had continued to demand with some of his southern counterparts that the National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, resigns which has fallen on deaf ears.
