30 Nasarawa Protesting Women, Others, Remanded In Prison | READ DETAILS
Thirty women and eight men have been remanded in prison by a Chief Magistrate Court in Lafia, Nasarawa State, after protesting against the Supreme Court Judgement affirming governor Sule Abdullahi's election victory.

Protesters had on Friday protested the judgement, however, thirty eight of them were arrested by the police and charged to court in the after over alleged destruction of public facilities, violenc-e, obstructing traffic, among others.

The court adjourned the matter for hearing on their bail applications scheduled for Monday, January 21.

Recall that prior to the Supreme court verdict, the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu Nadada, had threatened to take decisive action against anyone engaged in viol-ence before, during and after the Supreme Court judgement.

The warning was issued at a peace pact ceremony organised for leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Speaking on the arrest of suspects, Nadada said they violated the peace accord signed by the leadership of the two major political parties in contention, APC and PDP to avoid any action that may lead to breach of peace during and after the judgement.
