Umuahia, Abia State - Councillors across the 17 Local Government Areas of Abia State are now smiling to the bank as the state government, under Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has approved a 100% increment in their salaries and allowances.

Information reaching All Facts Newspaper reveals that the councillors, who previously earned around 300,000 monthly, will now receive over 600,000, following the governor's approval of the reviewed wage structure.

Speaking exclusively to All Facts Newspaper, one of the councillors, who preferred to remain anonymous, confirmed the salary increment and expressed gratitude to the governor.

"Yes, it is true. Our salaries have been increased by 100%. Before now, most of us earned around 300,000, but now it's a little above 600,000. This is a big relief for us, he said.

He added that the new pay structure will motivate councillors to work harder for their people, fund community-based projects, and contribute meaningfully to local development.

"We thank Governor Alex Otti for the quick approval. He listened to our complaints and acted fast. With this increment, we can now do more for our people and represent them better. We're also hopeful that more good news will come,ÔÇØ the councillor added.
