Abia Exco Approve Conversion Of State Polytechnic, College Of Education, Others

The Abia State Executive Council, have approved the conversion of the Abia state polytechnic Aba, into Abia State University of Science and Technology, Aba.

This was part of the resolution of the Council during a meeting held on October 26, 2021, at the Exco Chambers of Government House, Umuahia.

The Exco meeting was chaired by the executive governor of the state, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu.

Institutions of higher learning approved by the Council for conversion include;
Abia State Polytechnic to be coverted to Abia State University of Science and Technology, Aba.

2. Abia State College of Education Arochukwu to be converted to Abia State University of Education, Arochukwu.

3. Abia state College of Health Sciences and Management Studies to be converted to Abia State University of Health Science and Management Studies, Aba.
The Council also approved the renaming of two Technical Schools;
Boys Technical College, Aba, to be renamed as Government Technical College, Aba

2. Secondary Technical College, Afara, to be renamed as Government Technical College, Afara.
However, the Executive Council's resolution will be subjected to the approval of the Abia State House of Assembly.
