ABIA GUBER WAHALA: PLAN TO ARREST KEY SUPPORTERS OF GOV. IKPEAZU REVEALED BY ABIA GOVT

Based on a press release made available to AFN and signed by Abia State Commissioner for Information, Honorable John Okiyi kalu, the press releases expose an alleged plan by political opponents to arrest key supporters of the governor and likewise planting of incriminating materials on them as to lock them up before the election.

Abia State Government has received information on plans by known opposition elements in the state to use security agents to manipulate the outcome of the March 9 election in the state through intimidation.

To this end, a known opposition element has procured the services of a senior security personnel in Abuja, whose identity is well known to us, to redeploy key service personnel in the state and bring in officers from outside the state who will execute the arrests of key supporters of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu on trumped up allegations, planting of incriminating materials on some of them and their subsequent detention before the election.

While calling on those involved in this plot to desist from their evil plan, we wish to alert all PDP leaders in the state to be extra vigilant and ensure they resist any attempt to frame and lure them into the net of the rogue individuals and their accomplices while the Government makes efforts to ensure that the plan is nipped in the bud.

From the events of the past weeks, it is obvious that the opponents of Governor Ikpeazu are aware that they stand no chance against him in a free and fair electoral contest and hence, have resorted to extra-legal means to sustain their dead-on-arrival ambitions.

Abia voters are hereby enjoined to go out on Saturday to exercise their constitutional right of choosing their leaders without fear of molestation. We will do everything possible to ensure that their votes count and are counted as well as guarantee a peaceful election in the state.
