ABIA: NSCDC Parade Suspected Illegal Petroleum Dealers In Umuahia

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp(NSCDC) has paraded four suspected four illegal petroleum dealers before newsmen in Umuahia,Abia State.While Parading the suspect whose names are; John James Nwile Chukwuma Sunday Mangu and Nwoke Sunday,the Abia State Commandant of the NSCDC Mr Vincent Ogu (JP) said the suspects were arrested along Ubakala Junction of the Enugu/PH Express way while conveying about 50 sack bags of Petroleum Products suspected to be AGO in a truck with REG. NO, MGU7585A.He further stated that the sack contains two (2) Nylon bags of 25litres capacity each.

The NSCDC boss in Abia also told newsmen that the Suspects loaded some bags of "Saw DustÔÇØ on top of the truck with the intent to deceive Operatives of the Corps on Patrol.He however stated that the suspect ran of luck when the ever gallant Operatives of NSCDC Abia State Command Umuahia on the 4th of December 2020 at about 13:30hours arrested the four (4) suspects for their alleged involvement in Illegal Dealings on Petroleum Products suspected to be AGO.

Mr Agu stated that the suspects were arrested following an "ActionableÔÇØ Intelligence which revealed their new method of lifting the Petroleum Products through a container body truck meant for the conveyance of Agro-Allied Products.

The NSCDC boss futher revealed that preliminary Investigations showed that;

- None of the suspects has license to deal on Petroleum Products
-The Product has no waybill or Meter Ticket
-The Truck has no haulage permit that allows it to be used to convey Petroleum Products.

Mr Agu confirmed to newsmen that at the end of the investigations, the suspects will be charged to a court of competent jurisdiction for diligent prosecution.

The Commandant however advised Parents to warn their wards to desist from all
forms of Vandalism of Petroleum Pipelines and Illegal dealings in Petroleum Products.He further warned that the product being inflammable could cause fire disaster if not properly handled.

Mr. Vincent Ogu (JP) also seized the opportunity to brief the Press on the progress so far made by his Administration within two (2) months in the saddle as the 10th Substantive State Commandant, NSCDC Abia State Command, Umuahia.According to him "we have been able to take the fight against all forms of vandalism of Petroleum Pipelines, Illegal dealing in Petroleum Products and other Criminal Activities to the doorsteps of the Vandals/Criminals. Twenty (20) suspects have so far been arrested and arraigned for various offenses while investigations are still ongoing in about eight (8) cases which will also be charged to court of competent jurisdiction upon conclusion of investigationsÔÇØ.

Mr. Ogu also read the riot act to criminals stating that he has come to the State to work and therefore warned criminals in the state neither to relocate from the state or be prepared to face the music.
