ABIA: Ossy Prestige condemns the killing of two persons in Aba yesterday

The Honorable Member Representing Aba North/South Federal Constituency, Honorable Prestige Ossy has condemned the alleged killing of two persons in Aba yesterday by Nigerian Police and COVID 19 task force.
In the press release signed by the honorable member and sent to AFNews, he expressed shock on why Security Officials meant to secure the people are now killing them.

He called on Police authority to immediately investigate and take action on the officers involved.

Yesterday, I received with shock, the death of tricycle (Keke) operator at Ogbohill and the death of another young man at the Uratta axis of Aba who were allegedly killed by security operatives working in the state.
It is not a palatable news that in this trying time, the security operatives that should protect lives and properties of the citizens are the ones involved in this dastardly act.

As of today there is no case of Coronavirus in Abia State but we have recorded the deaths of about six Abians killed extrajudicially.
I therefore, condemn in the strongest terms, the incessant killings of innocent citizens in Aba and other parts of Abia State.

I call on the authorities to investigate the root and remote causes of all these killings and bring the perpetrators to face the full wrath of the law. I also call on the Abia State Government to take drastic measures to stop the occurrence of these ugly incidents.

Furthermore, I call on the security operatives to be professional in their assigned duties as this is one of those times when their professional calling as security agents puts them on the line despite the risks.

I will be waiting for the full report of the police on the killings in Aba as I am reaching out to the heads of the different security agencies to call their sub units in Aba to order and make sure that the culprits are brought to Justice, while applying the rules of engagement in all their activities.

Finally, I call on the good people of Aba to restrain from taking laws into their hands. Everyone should adhere to all the Government's directives during the lockdown as it is all for our own good. I advise that you maintain person to person distancing, wash hands regularly, sanitize your hands and comply with all other recommendations by medical experts.
