ABIA PDP IN CONFUSION! Wabara 'Suspended', Party Chairman 'Expelled' - Who is in Charge?

The internal crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State has taken a dramatic turn, as a factional group, Frontiers for Change and Progress, has announced the expulsion of the state PDP Chairman, Abraham Amah, over allegations of impersonation. This development comes just hours after Amah announced the suspension of PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, for alleged anti-party activities.

The battle for control within the Abia PDP is now at a boiling point, with Senator Wabara refusing to recognize his suspension, and the factional group dismissing Amah's actions as a "big joke.ÔÇØ

Announcing Amah's expulsion in Umuahia on Tuesday, the National Coordinator of Frontiers for Change and Progress, Emeka Yellow Ikpegbu, stated that Amah lacked the constitutional power to suspend Senator Adolphus Wabara from his position as PDP BoT Chairman.

"We heard this afternoon that one Amah Abraham, parading as Abia PDP Chairman, claimed he had suspended the BoT chairman of our great party, His Excellency, Senator Adolphus Wabara. He even claimed he had removed him as the BoT Chairman of the PDP.

But those of us who know Abraham Amah are not surprised. We know his antecedents. He claims to be PDP Chairman, but the truth remains that Abia PDP has no EXCO at the moment. There was a court injunction stopping the purported congress that produced him,ÔÇØ Ikpegbu declared.

Ikpegbu insisted that only the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) has the authority to suspend the BoT Chairman, emphasizing that such action would first require:

2´©Å- An invitation for him to respond to allegations

3´©Å- A failure to appear before any disciplinary measures could be taken

He further questioned why real anti-party activities by some PDP members in Abuja have not been addressed while Wabara, a respected elder statesman, is being targeted for simply expressing his personal opinion on governance in Abia State.

This latest development follows Amah's own announcement earlier on Tuesday, where he claimed that the State Working Committee had suspended Senator Wabara for alleged anti-party activities. However, with a faction now declaring Amah's chairmanship illegitimate and expelling him from the party, the PDP's internal crisis in Abia has reached an unprecedented level of confusion.

With both sides making bold claims, the question remains: Who truly holds power in Abia PDP? Will the PDP National Leadership intervene, or will the party continue its self-destructive battle?

Meanwhile the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) has dismissed the suspension of Wabara.
