ABIA POWER: Geometric Power Appreciates Gov. Otti For Support, Briefs Journalist On Project Commissioning

The Chairman of Geometric Power Group Professor Bartholomew Nnaji, has appreciated Governor Alex Otti of Abia State for his commitment and support towards the Power Generation Project in Aba and he also assured residents and industries within the Aba Metropolis of absolute electricity.

While speaking to a cross-section of journalists at the Geometric Power Headquarters in Aba on Friday 23 February 2024, Professor Nnaji expressed excitement towards the commissioning of the Power project billed to be commissioned by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday 26th February 2024.

The project which has been in the works for over 20 years, started with a Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) with the Federal Government in 2004, an agreement in 2005 and was finally licensed in 2006.

Geometric Power which is the first private power company in Nigeria, has the objective of providing absolute electricity for businesses, industries and residents of the Aba Metropolis which comprises of about 7 local government areas in Abia State.

Professor Nnaji further posited that the availability of electricity will make it possible for Made in Nigeria products to compete with foreign products because electricity is one of the core ingredients in manufacturing.

While responding, the Abia State Commissioner for Power & Public Utilities Engineer Ikechukwu Monday, stated that the state has lost a lot because of lack of electricity and so they are glad that this power project is about to kick off.

He revealed further that part of Governor Alex Otti's manifesto as regards power generation, was to collaborate with the private sector to solve the electricity problem. He stated that this partnership with geometric power will encourage other private sectors to come to Abia State.
