Banquet: Alex Otti Foundation Awards Scholarship To 35 Undergraduates

The Alex Otti Foundation has awarded scholarship to 35 Undergraduates in Abia State. Successful candidates who went through the rigorous process of selection, were formally inducted into the scholarship scheme of the foundation with a banquet on Friday, July 30, 2021.

The banquet was held at Alex Otti's country home at Umuru Umuehim Nvosi in Isialangwa south Local Government Area of Abia state.

Out of the numerous number of undergraduates that applied for the 2021 scholarship scheme of the Alex Otti Foundation, 35 scaled through to the final stage.

The 2021 beneficiaries were 10 females and 25 males.

Out of the 17 LGA in the state, two local governments; Osisioma LGA, and Umunneochi LGA did not make it to the final stage.

The scholarship is open for indigenes and residents of Abia State studying in public tertiary institutions.

Interested undergraduates for the Alex Otti foundation, must be in their second year and with a 3.5 CGPA.

The beneficiaries receives 150,000 into their Access bank account for each semester. However, they have to maintain the approved CGP or risk being dropped.

Speaking at the banquet, Dr Alex Otti congratulated the beneficiaries, assuring that the scheme will continue until they graduate as long as the students maintains the approved standard.
"I know what you went through, I know that it was rigoroue and we know why we made it rigorous so I must congratulate you and your parents.

"I assure you that this process will continue until you graduate."

Otti further charged;

"Joining the foundation is a heculian task. You must remain in that category that saw you to the scholarship. You need to continue to work hard. If you drop from that category, we will naturally drop you from the scholarship. We are training the best. This is our own way of giving back and supporting parents."

The finance expert also noted that if the people in a society are not educated, they will become illiterates and create nuisance.

He therefore called on relevant authorities to pay more attention to the education sector.

Speaking to ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER, one of the beneficiaries, Nnenna chiamaka Okezie, a Mass communication student of the Federal polytechnic Nekede, Imo state, described the scholarship as a rare opportunity and, expressed gratitude to the foundation .

Also, expressing gratitude was a visually impaired beneficiary, and the overall best in the selection process, Chukwuebuka Christopher.

He is a Psychology student in the University of Nigeria, Nsuka (UNN).

Christopher, who lost his father and his twin brother, described the opportunity as a God answered prayer, adding that his poor mother will no longer worry over how to pay his tuition fees.

Dignitaries at the banquet include, His Royal Majesty, Nelson Mmerengwa (Isiala 1 of Isiekenta Ancient kingdom), His Royal Majesty Samson Jinanwa, (Ise 1 of Ama Use Ancient kingdom and His Royal Majesty, Nelson Nwachukwu.

Highlight of the event was opening of a scholarship bank account for the beneficiaries and presentation of award letters.
