BUSTED: How NSCDC Discovered Adulterated AGO Stashed Under Yogurt Drinks | READ IN FULL

Akwa Ibom State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), have discovered a truckload of adulterated Automative Gas Oil (AGO), also known as diesel, stashed under yogurt drinks.

The command operatives intercepted and arrested the suspects; Aliyu Mohammadu, 27 and Sani Mohammedu, 25, for illegal dealing on petroleum products.

The adulterated diesel was found hidden underneath and in between over 100 packs of Yogurt drinks.

While parading the truck and suspects before journalists on Wednesday,April 28, at the Corps' Exhibit Yard in Uyo, the State Commandant, Adekunle Fadeyi, said the truck intercepted on Friday, April 23, was loaded in Ahoada in Rivers State, and had evaded several security check points.

"Luck however ran out on the criminals when vigilant NSCDC operatives stationed at the Calabar/Itu highway decided to conduct a routine inspection of the truck after flagging it. "during the routine check, my men discovered wet sack bags, containing AGOs stored in cellophane bags. The AGOs were clandestinely covered by hundreds of packs of yogurt drinks" Fadeyi disclosed.

He further said the suspects would be charged to court after investigations, adding that the intercepted cartons of yogurt drinks would be destroyed as they have been contaminated with the adulterated diesel.

Fadeyi promised that the NSCDC will not rest on its oars in riding Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria at large of every form of pipeline vandalism, illegal bunkering and other criminal activities.

He however called on the public to collaborate with security agencies in their fight against security challenges over the country.
