CONTEMPT OF COURT: See What Happened To Rivers Monarch After Shouting On Judge | READ DETAILS

A Rivers State Monarch, Chief Vincent Nnamdi-Otto, has bagged a one month jail term for shouting on a judge, and threatening others in court.

The monarch during cross examination at the High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on a land suit, raised his voice at the presiding judge, requesting to know the judge's interest in his case.

On if he (Otto) was aware of an interim order of injunction restraining him from interfering with the land in dispute at Elelenwo, near Port-Harcourt, Otto told the court that he was not aware of such order.

Nnamdi-Otto while describing his rival as a 'crook' , alleged that the court was supporting him.

The last straw was when Otto walked out of the witness box, hit his palm on the floor and threatened to deal with the judge and his(Otto) rival, as well as to petition the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), and an unnamed minister.

The presiding judge, Justice Aldolphus Enebele, at this point, ordered that Nnamdi-Otto be put back in the witness box. The judge also mandated him to explain why he should not be committed to prison for contempt.

Justice Enebele, after listening to the presentation from the lawyers, who condemned his attitude, sentenced him to one month imprisonment.

The substantive matter was adjourned till May 17, 2021 for further cross-examination.
