COVID-19: Delta State Has Conducted 7500 Tests So Far - Health Comm

Delta State has far collected and tested 7,500 samples for COVID-19 in the state. This was disclosed to Online Media Practitioners in the State by the Delta state Commissioner for Health, Dr Ononye Mordi in his office.The health commissioner also stated that although their seems to be a decline in the number of COVID-19 cases in the state, but this does not signify that the state is out of the woods yet.

He frowned at the flagrant disregard of safety guidelines provided by the NCDC such as avoidance of crowded places,social distancing ,the use of facemask. He said Deltans no longer use facemask ,even those who manage to wear have turned it a chin mask.

He disclosed to newsmen that the ministry has dispatched a team of health officers to communities across the state, to sensitize them on while they should not let their guards down as COVID-19 is still with us, he stated that part of the mandate of the team is to also sensitize Deltans on why they should submit themselves for COVID-19 test to ascertain their status and also make them understand that the test is free.Dr Mordi also disclosed that the state has moved to the phase of community testing.

The Health Commissioner while responding to question on the usefulness of the Isolation Centres across the state since their seems to be a decline in the number of positive cases in the state, said the Isolation Centres are still very useful ,"even though we have moved to a phase were some patients who have tested positive to the virus especially those who are asymptomatic are treated in their homes under close supervision by health officers from the state government .The Isolation Centres still accommodates patients across the state ,presently there are patients in the Isolation Centres across the state, although the number has reduced "he said.

The Delta health boss also pleaded with media practitioners in the state, especially the new media to join hands with government to continually sensitize Deltans on the dangers of flouting COVID-19 safety guidelines.
