Cyber-Crime: NCC Unveils Punishments For Cyber Criminals In Nigeria | SEE DETAILS

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), has recounted the punishments attached with cyber-crime in Nigeria according to the Cyber-crime Act 2015.

The NCC is the independent Regulatory Body for telecom industry in the country.

According to the Act, any one found engaging in fraudulent activities online, risks 7 years jail term, among other punishments.

"Fraud- (deceiving other people with the objective of stealing their money online) different categories of fines depending on the magnitude of the offenses.
"Up to 7 years, refund the stolen money and a fine of up to N7,000,000 ".

On cyber terrorism, the punishment according to the cyber crime Act 2015 is life imprisonment.

"Cyber terrorism (Any person that accesses or causes any computer or network to be accessed for purposes of terrorism) - Life imprisonment.
