Hon. Mike Ukoha Gives Insight Into Bills, Motions He pushed In Abia Assembly | WATCH VIDEO

The Honorable member representing Arochukwu state constituency in the Abia state House of Assembly, Dr. Mike Ukoha has given insight into bills, laws, motions, and matters of urgent importance he pushed within 3-years of being in the Assembly.

Giving account of his stewardship in the House of Assembly, on an AF-TELEVISION Programme 'Ukoha Speaks' the lawmaker revealed that aside the Abians in Diaspora Commission Bill which he sponsored and have now been signed into law, he is pushing for a new bill to establish the University of Technology and Education, Arochukwu which would benefit his people.

"Ukoha speaksÔÇØ is a programme where the antecedents of the lawmaker in the state Assembly are buttressed.
The lawmaker revealed that the bill seeking for the university's establishment have scaled through the first reading in the Abia House of Assembly.

"this is going to be a university in Arochukwu and I am happy to announce that we have gone through the first reading and I hope that my colleagues will see the merit of that bill in putting it into law and I believe that the governor as always, will assent to that once we are readyÔÇØ.

Ukoha expressed optimism that the bill if passed into law, would change Arochukwu communities because;
"there will be a faculty of entrepreneurship where our youths will acquire the necessary skills. We are going to have welding department, fashion, so that we will give you the necessary background in English Language, Accounting, but your focus will be welding".

He added that the law will be beneficial to the people joined with the proposed entrepreneurship bank being sponsored by the member representing the constituency at the Federal level.
Ukoha said when students graduate from the University if established, they would have access to funds from the entrepreneurship bank.

He revealed that he has sponsored and co-sponsored other bills and motions including the Uburiya /Atani road which brought the attention of NEWMAP and Abroma.

Speaking further on the Abians in Diaspora Commission bill, Ukoha charged diasporans to utilize the creation of the commission in contributing to the economic development of the state to beat sister states.
Ukoha who is also the Minority Whip in the Assembly, assured the diasporans that there is now a huge opportunity for them to come into the state to set up projects that would boost the economy of the state, create job opportunities and others with the signing into law of the "Abians in Diaspora Commission billÔÇØ which he sponsored on the floor of the House.
He further encouraged them to look homeward and contribute their own quota as the days of frustration are over.

"there is a lot we can gain from them (diasporans) we need them in terms of job creation, manufacturing, policy development

"for example, the governor signed the bill into law, and there is a Commission that is for Abians in diaspora so that they will not have that frustratory experience. You deal with the commission and the acting executive secretary, is also a diasporan so he understands the language.
"I encourage all Abians to look home-ward and render their own quota in economic development of Abia state and NigeriaÔÇØ

According to ukoha, he sponsored the bill because of series of frustrations he alongside other diasporans who has good developmental ideas encountered on entering the country to proceed with their plans.

"when you refer them to ministries and they submit their proposals, sometimes proposals are lost; sometimes they know that you are going to spend a week or two and go back to your base, there is frustration, come today and come tomorrow. But now, that frustration is entirely eliminated because you don't need to even visit Nigeria. You send in that proposal electronically to the acting director, and then they will review it, and if they find merit in that vision, they will invite you. You don't need to visit Nigeria because you want to establish a manufacturing companyÔÇØ.
