The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has been ranked among the Top Five Best-Performing Federal Government agencies in Nigeria for 2025, following a rigorous assessment by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC).

The recognition, which falls under the Transparency and Efficiency Category, was officially announced during the PEBEC Awards and Gala Night held on Tuesday at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja, a high-profile event that brought together top government officials, regulators, and private-sector stakeholders.

In the ranking, the NCC stood shoulder-to-shoulder with some of Nigeria's most impactful public institutions. The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) emerged as the overall best performing agency, followed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in second position. The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) also made the top-five list.

According to PEBEC, the NCC earned its place due to its "commitment to openness, accountability, and operational excellence in public service delivery.ÔÇØ The council noted that the Commission's regulatory approach has significantly improved predictability, efficiency, and confidence within Nigeria's telecommunications sector.

Receiving the award on behalf of the Commission, the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida, described the recognition as both an affirmation of the Commission's values and a renewed call to duty.

Dr. Maida stressed that transparency, accountability, and regulatory discipline remain the backbone of NCC's operations, adding that the Commission's reforms are already producing measurable results across the telecom ecosystem.

He explained that as Nigeria's economic regulator for telecommunications, the NCC's mandate goes beyond oversight, it is about creating a business-friendly environment that attracts investment, sustains competition, and protects consumer interests.

The NCC boss assured Nigerians that the Commission remains committed to improving quality of service, strengthening industry competition, and ensuring fairness in regulatory enforcement, while also deepening collaboration with stakeholders to drive sustainable growth.

Speaking earlier at the ceremony, PEBEC Director General, Zahrah Mustapha-Audu, described the awards as a celebration of reform champions who have gone beyond routine compliance to deliver real impact in public service.

She noted that the recognitions reflect Nigeria's broader ambition to become Africa's most attractive and competitive business destination, an effort driven by data-backed reforms and institutional accountability under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, who chairs the council.

Vice President Shettima, in his remarks, said the awards highlight the Federal Government's resolve to build a more efficient, responsive, and growth-oriented public sector, stressing that when institutions work together across ministries, departments, and agencies, the entire country benefits.
