A leaked audio clip that emerged on cyberspace has revealed Spanish defender and PSG ace, Sergio Ramos asked Luis Rubiales, head of the Spanish Football Federation, to help him clinch the Ballon d'Or in 2020.

According to Spanish outlet El Confidencial via Mundo Deportivo, the centre-back who was the then captain of LaLiga side Real Madrid was recorded in a conversation with Rubiales sometime between July and August 2020 ahead of the esteemed awards show.

The Ballon d'Or award was however eventually cancelled in 2020 due to the Covid pandemic.

36-year-old Ramos in his plea can be heard saying;

''You know that I've never asked you for anything but if I want to do it today it's because I think this has been a special year for the performances I've delivered,' Ramos said to Rubiales.
