Abuja, Nigeria - Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, elder statesman and former Special Adviser on Political Matters to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has publicly declared that the North is in pain under Tinubu's government and will soon "decide its own political direction.ÔÇØ
In a fiery and now-viral address, Baba-Ahmed did not mince words as he condemned the current administration, describing it as another chapter of tears for Northern Nigeria, following what he termed "eight years of deceptionÔÇØ under former President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the hardship, insecurity, and political marginalization currently affecting the region have reached a breaking point, and the people of the North are "tired of just crying.ÔÇØ He hinted that a bold political shift is coming, one that will redefine the North's future role in Nigerian politics.

"We want a government that understands our problems and can address them,ÔÇØ Hakeem Baba-Ahmed stated passionately. "After Buhari's eight years, we became wiser. Now, we are in another government, and we are still crying. Is crying all we know how to do?ÔÇØ

He further warned that nobody can become Nigeria's President without Northern backing, asserting that the region's unity and population remain a powerful political force that must be respected.

"In the next six months, the North will decide where it stands. If the rest of the country wants to join us, fine. If not, we will go our own way,ÔÇØ he said.
Drawing from Nigeria's traumatic experiences during the height of the Boko Haram insurgency, Baba-Ahmed recalled how mosques, churches, and cities like Abuja and Lagos were under constant threat. He used this to call for unity among Northerners, regardless of religion or ethnicity.

"Before Buhari became President, Boko Haram was bombing mosques, churches, Abuja, and Lagos. That was a time northerners had to unite. Today, no politician can just show up and expect northerners to fall in line. Who are you?ÔÇØ
