How UNILORIN Final Year Student Beat His Project Supervisor Into Coma

A 400 Level student of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Salaudeen Waliyu popularly known as Captain Walz on Thursday, attacked his female project supervisor, Mrs Zakariyyah.

Report says Waliyu attacked Zakariyyah, a lecturer of the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Life Sciences in her office, leaving her with injuries.

According to reports, Waliyu sought the help of the assaulted lecturer, because he did not observe the compulsory Students Industrial Work Scheme (SIWES).

He was said to have pleaded with her but she refused helping him which made Waiyu furious and he started banging her table and slapping her.

The lecturer was said to have escaped into another office, however, yet to be pacified Waliyu followed her and strangled her till she fell into coma.

ÔÇØ The lecturer tried to escape and he kept pursuing her, she ran into an office but Captain Walz broke the window and started punching her hard.

ÔÇØ In an attempt to escape, the lecturer fell down, sustained a head cut and was strangled by the student till she fell into comaÔÇØ a source told newsmen.
The student was afterwards arrested by the security personnel of UNILORIN and handed over to the police.
According to the Director of Corporate Affairs, UNILORIN, Kunle Akogun, said Mrs Zakariyyah is in a stable condition.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sulyman Age Abdulkareem, who described the incident as sad and unfortunate, assured that justice will be done on the matter.
