Sunday Oge Elom, a Professor of Medical Biochemistry has been appointed the new Vice-Chancellor of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ịkwọ in Ebonyi State.

The appointment was contained in a statement issued by the Registrar/Secretary of the University's Governing Council, Odisa C. Oleke on Tuesday in a statement.

The statement said the appointment followed the ratification of the appointment by an extraordinary meeting of the Council.

"The appointment was based in the report and recommendation from the Joint Council/Senate selection board constituted for the purpose in line with the Universities Miscellaneous Provisions (Amendment) Act 2003,ÔÇØ the statement said.

The Registrar said the appointment will take effect from February 11.

Prof Elom will succeed outgoing Prof Chinedum Nwajiuba, whose five years tenure will elapse on February 10.

Before his appointment, Prof. Elom was the immediate past Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, of the University.
