A fresh political controversy has erupted within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, alleged that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, had promised to weaken the Peoples Democratic Party in favour of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Makinde made the revelation during a meeting with Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, where discussions reportedly centered on the crisis rocking the PDP and the future of the party.

Makinde stated that he was personally present at a meeting involving Wike and President Tinubu where the FCT Minister allegedly promised to hold down the PDP for the President ahead of the next election.

According to him, any PDP member currently aligning with Wike and his political group has indirectly agreed to support Tinubu's political ambition in 2027.

The governor said members are free to support any candidate of their choice but should be open about their political position rather than working from within the PDP to undermine the party.
