MAO VS OUK: SEN. MAO FILES PETITION AT THE TRIBUNAL, SEEKS TO UPTURN OUK'S VICTORY

Based on the information available to AFN, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa has submitted his petition to the Election Petition Tribunal challenging the declaration of Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu as the winner of the just concluded Abia North Senatorial election.
AFN learnt that the petition is mainly hinged on the inability of INEC to compile with the electoral constitutional provision that stipulates that if the number of cancelled votes super cedes the margin of victory that the election be declared inconclusive and a rerun organized.

It should be remembered that the difference between Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu of the APC and Senator Mao Ohuabunwa of the PDP was a little above 10,000 votes, meanwhile about 75,000 votes was cancelled by INEC in Arochukwu LGA.

We also learnt that Senator Mao Ohuabunwa is also challenging the number of votes gotten by Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, he is alleging the numbers collated for the former governor did not add up properly.

Remember, the tribunal has 180 days to conclude and give judgement.
