NEMA PROVIDES RELIEF MATERIALS TO ABIA STATE FOR ISU COMMUNITY

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has fulfilled its promises as it has supplied some relief materials to Abia State Government for onward delivery to the displaced persons of Isu Community, Arochukwu L.G.A.

Speaking at the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) office in Umuahia, the Cordinator Abia/Imo Area office Mr. Evan Ugoh Ignatius stated that the purpose for their gathering was to provide the people of Isu with their relief materials which was promised to them as a result of their predicament.

Mr. Ignatius further explained that when NEMA visited the area some time ago, the officials were moved to tears as a result of what they saw, stressing that the displace persons of the area will always be taken care of.

He therefore urged those it will be in their hands to distribute the materials to ensure that they do justice to it, adding that out of over 30 to 40 assessment carried out by the Agency in Abia State, that of Isu was very dear to them which prompted the provision of the materials to them.

The Cordinator specially thanked the Member representing Arochukwu State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly Hon. Dr. Mike Ukoha for his relentless effort in making sure that the Federal Government through NEMA intervened and described him as a good representative of his people.

Speaking at the occasion, the Secretary to the State Government Barrister Chris Ezem thanked NEMA for providing such material to the internally displaced persons of Isu, promising that the government will ensure that the materials are shared effectively.

The SSG hinted that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu is working tirelessly to ensure that the boundary between the two States of Abia and Cross River are adjusted so as to end the prolonged crises in the affected areas.

Also speaking, the Member representing Arochukwu State Constituency ABHA, Hon. Dr. Mike Ukoha appreciated NEMA and President Muhammadu Buhari for the relief materials.

Hon. Dr. Ukoha used the occasion to call on the National Boundary Commission (NBC) to visit the affected area so as to make a proper delineation of the boundary in disputes and end the crises once and for all.

The House member further hinted that he has been working very closely with his counterparts in Cross-River State for better ways to settle the boundary issues with ease, and thanked all those who have shown concern in the matter ever since.
