Nnamdi Kanu Is Sick, May Die In DSS Custody - Lawyer, Ozekhome | READ DETAILS
The lead counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mike Ozekhome, SAN, has expressed fear over the health status of Kanu, noting that he may die in custody if not given immediate medical attention.

Kanu's legal team have been praying the Department for State Service (DSS) to obey the court order allowing Kanu to get medical attention.

The legal team is now praying the court to order for Kanu to be transferred from DSS Custody to Kuje correctional centre for treatment.

Speaking on Thursday, Ozekhome said the DSS have refused to release Kanu who has already been booked for surgery.

"My Lords, Nnamdi Kanu is sick, he has been approved for surgery but they have refused to release him for treatment.ÔÇØ

"We are pleading for him to be transferred from DSS custody to Kuje correctional centre so that he can begin treatment like others.

"He's getting really sick, I'm scared he may die in the custody of DSS. Dead bodies are not prosecutedÔÇØ Ozekhome told the Supreme court.
Despite the plea, the court adjourned the matter, insisting that it will hear all the motions in the case on the resumption hearing on September 14.

The court said even if it proceeds to hear the appeal, there is no space within its calendar to write and deliver the verdict within the 90-day deadline.

"Nnamdi Kanu will not die in detention. God will keep him alive and his blood won't be in your hands,ÔÇØ the court added.
