H0T: Chevron Given 28-Days Ultimatum To Provide Employment

The National Association of Itsekiri Graduates (NAIG), has issued a 28-days ultimatum to Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL), to commence training for employment and reclassify the Itsekiri Graduates of VTP5/OTP2 and VTP6.

The NAIG threatened to shut down Chevron's operations in Itsekiri, Delta state if it fails to comply with the ultimatum.

According to the Association during a press briefing in Warri, the management of Chevron asked the affected persons to resign their former jobs and were promised employment.
This made them quit their high paying jobs to pass through the O/M training.

It also demanded that the reclassification should be backdated to January 2016 and January 2017 for VTP5/OTP6 respectively.

A brief signed by the NAIG President and Secretary, Ben Eyitemi Eburajolo and Esiategiwa Mino, mandated Chevron to;
"Resume Operations and Maintenance(O&M) training with employment in view immediately as enshrined in our Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) with you.

"Community development in Oil Producing Areas should resume back immediately.

" All Itsekiri host communities to CNL should be given light and portable drinking water."

NAIG said it cannot keep silent anymore because Itsekiri sons and daughters have been grossly marginalized by the oil multinational.

The Association also stated that it would no longer keep mute as Itsekiri sons and daughters have been grossly marginalized by the oil multinational, adding that "the plight of our brothers and sisters in VTP5/OTP6 calls for urgent attention."
