Mrs Gloria Izonfuo, a Commissioner with the National Population Commission (NPC), in Bayelsa State, was on Sunday evening, kidnapped in Rivers state, by yet to be identified assailants.

The Commissioner was reportedly on her way back to Port Harcourt when her vehicle was intercepted at Ogbakiri junction on the East-West road and she was whisked away alongside her maid and driver.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident to newsmen adding that the state Commissioner of Police has mandated tactical teams to ensure the release of the victims.

As of Monday, the abductors are said to have made contact with the family and are demanding N500 million ransom.
