Governor Otti Seeks Vietnam Partnership to Boost Abia's Agriculture, Trade, and Industry

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has expressed his administration's readiness to establish a strategic partnership with the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to enhance trade, agriculture, commerce, and industrial development in the state.
Governor Otti made this known on Tuesday when he received the Vietnamese Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Bui Quoc Hung, at his country home in Umuehim, Nvosi. The visit, which aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, focused on exploring investment opportunities in agriculture, manufacturing, textiles, and crude oil and gas.

Speaking during the meeting, Governor Otti underscored Abia's vast economic potential and the state government's determination to collaborate with international partners for sustainable development.
"We are delighted to host you in Abia. There are numerous areas where we can work together for mutual benefit. We are particularly keen on partnering with Vietnam to strengthen trade, commerce, manufacturing, and agriculture,ÔÇØ Otti stated.

He further revealed that his administration has been in discussions with various investors to establish industries in the state. The governor directed the Commissioner for Industry to work closely with the Vietnamese delegation and arrange visits to key industrial sites in Abia.
Governor Otti expressed optimism that a partnership with Vietnam could play a crucial role in reviving moribund industries in the state, creating jobs, and boosting economic growth.

On his part, Ambassador Hung highlighted Vietnam's interest in establishing a strong economic relationship with Abia State. He noted that Vietnam sees Abia as a strategic hub for investment in agriculture, manufacturing, and the oil and gas sector.

He emphasized Vietnam's commitment to fostering robust import and export activities with Nigeria, particularly Abia State, to enhance economic prosperity.
As part of his visit, the Vietnamese envoy will tour key industrial and historical sites in Abia, including the National War Museum, Golden Guinea Breweries, Saclux Paint, Aba Textile Mill, and the thriving shoe and garment clusters in Aba and Umuahia. He will also hold meetings with the Aba and Umuahia Chambers of Commerce to explore collaboration opportunities between the Vietnamese government, its private sector, and Abia State.

Commending Governor Otti's leadership, Ambassador Hung praised his administration's focus on economic transformation, stating:

The Vietnamese delegation later visited the National War Museum in Umuahia, accompanied by the Commissioner for Arts, Culture, and Digital Economy, Dr. Mathew Ekwuribe. Other scheduled site visits and business meetings with key stakeholders will take place over the next two days.
