The seminar, themed "RISE: Reinvent, Innovate, Strategize, Expand,ÔÇØ was convened by Pastor Rotimi Oyekunle and Pastor Mrs. Modupe Oyekunle and attracted business leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs and aspiring nation builders from different walks of life.
In his keynote address, Dr. Igwe described the theme as timely and transformational, stressing that true greatness is not inherited but forged through pressure, discipline and intentional decision-making. Rather than speaking in abstract terms, he shared his personal life story as practical evidence of how the principles of RISE can change destinies.

Dr. Igwe recounted that he was born shortly after the Nigerian Civil War under extremely difficult circumstances, without access to modern medical care. According to him, his humble and uncertain beginning shaped his mindset early in life, teaching him that background may explain a person but must never define their future.

He narrated how his earliest exposure to entrepreneurship came from his late father, a palm-oil producer and trader, who taught him the importance of innovation even in rural settings. Dr. Igwe explained that their family business succeeded because they dared to do things differently, introducing an upfront payment system that secured loyalty from palm fruit sellers and gave them a competitive edge.
However, tragedy struck when the family's entire produce was stolen, leading to the sudden death of his father after developing high blood pressure. The incident, he said, marked a turning point in his life, forcing him to drop out of school and begin a seven-year apprenticeship.
Describing the apprenticeship period as the greatest school of his life, Dr. Igwe said it taught him discipline, patience, obedience, strategy and survival. In 1992, he was settled with just 10,000, an amount already weakened by inflation, leaving him unable to rent accommodation or meet basic needs.

Despite the setback, he began trading between Onitsha and Owerri, reinvesting every profit back into the business. Within months, his capital grew, enabling him to expand his operations to Lagos. While competing with traders who had far more capital, Dr. Igwe said he relied on strategic thinking rather than intimidation.

He shared how high transportation costs threatened his profit until he devised a creative solution by traveling as an attachment passenger and later serving as an escort during night journeys, a strategy that eliminated shipping expenses entirely. According to him, that experience demonstrated how innovation and strategy often come from seeing opportunity where others see inconvenience.
Dr. Igwe explained that the pillars of RISE - Reinvent, Innovate, Strategize and Expand are not motivational slogans but practical principles that must be applied daily for sustainable success. He noted that when these principles are consistently practiced, growth becomes inevitable.
