Severe Monkeypox Occurs Mainly In Children, Has No Cure - NCDC Warns
Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), has advised Nigerians to report on time to medical practitioners if they notice symptoms of monkeypox.

According to the Centre, monkeypox has no cure, however, early detection could save lives.

Currently, monkeypox have been recorded in 17 countries; Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, UK, US, Austria, Denmark, Israel, Scotland and Switzerland.

The NCDC creating awareness on Monkeypox wrote on its social media handle;
#Monkeypox is a rare viral disease transmitted from animals to humans, & from human to human.
Symptoms include fever, body pain, weakness, sore throat & rashes on the face, palms, soles of the feet & other parts of the body.

The #Monkeypox virus can spread via contact with an infected person or animal.

Animal-to-human transmission may occur by direct contact with blood, body fluids, skin or mucosal lesions of infected animals eg. monkeys, squirrels & rodents.

#Monkeypox is usually self-limiting, with symptoms lasting between 2 and 3 weeks. Severe cases occur more commonly among children.
