Anglican Bishop of Nnewi diocese, Rt. Rev Ndubuisi Obi has decried increasing hardship in the country, attributing the dangerous trend to zero leadership at the federal level.

He said Nigeria's current situation is so worrisome that surviving each day had become a miracle.

The prelate spoke at the Bishop Court Nnewi, Anambra State, during a press briefing ahead of the diocesan synod themed, "Created for Dominion.ÔÇØ

He described Nigeria as a failed state, stressing that prevalent agitations across the country was enough indication that Nigerians were unhappy with the leadership at the centre.

He noted that he always got infuriated whenever the handlers of the Buhari led government talked about the "presidencyÔÇØ instead of the "presidentÔÇØ, wondering whether Nigerians elected the presidency and not the president.

He said, "The government of the day has failed woefully. They should change their mindset for the remaining two years they will stay in office. Marginalisation must stop.

"Look at the appointment of the Chief of Army Staff where an Igbo man was the next senior officer to take the shot but a junior officer was rather appointed and the rest senior officers were retired after all the huge investment on them. Is that good? This is government of the Fulani, by the Fulani and for the Fulani.

"The kind of dehumanization I see people subjected to in Imo State is mindboggling. At the checkpoints manned by soldiers, people will have to disembark from their vehicles and raise their hands to pass through the checkpoints, including some women who had their babies strapped at their backs.

On the forthcoming governorship election in the state, the cleric regretted the denominationalism factor in the state's politics, stressing that the state should not be seen as belonging to any particular denomination.

"The church should rise up and give politicians sense of direction irrespective of denominations. If a free, fair and credible election is conducted in the November 6 polls, a good material who will move the State forward will emerge,ÔÇØ he added.
