WAEC releases statement on fire incident at its Headquarters

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has debunked the rumours on the social media that its headquarters was gutted by fire in Abuja

A statement by its Head of Public Affairs, Demianus Ojijeogu noted that neither the Council's headquarters (in Lagos) nor any of its offices across Nigeria experienced any fire incident.

The statement reads: "The attention of the West African Examinations Council has been drawn to rumours being peddled by some online media that there was a fire outbreak at WAEC Headquarters, Abuja.
"We hereby categorically state that there was no fire incident at WAEC Headquarters or any WAEC office in Nigeria, for that matter.

"The publication is false and it is the handi-work of mischief-makers who are out to misinform, mislead and confuse the candidates and members of the general public.
