Workers of the National Assembly and National Assembly Service Commission have barricaded the main entrance into the National Assembly Complex in massive protest over a backlog of unpaid allowances and arrears.

The workers under the umbrella of Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) had threatened to embark on an indefinite strike on Friday, June 3, adding the action would take effect from Monday, June 6.

Registering their displeasure, the staff accused the management of the National Assembly of reneging on a Memorandum of Understanding to fully implement the revised condition of service and the training and re-training of staff.

They are also asking for the payment of arrears of Minimum wage, leave grant and other allowances.

Protesting in their number, the workers blocked the gate with their bus and human shield, vowing the strike will be total and indefinite.
